‘Brixton: Lessons in liberation’ (2025)

Brixton: Lessons in Liberation (2025) is a short film that traces a walk I took through Brixton, South London, on a summer’s day in June 2025. The film reflects on the area’s history and political struggles, while celebrating the resilience and enduring spirit of its community in the face of state violence and structural inequality. It positions Brixton as a key site of resistance, one that has played a vital role in liberation movements not only within the U.K., but globally. In doing so, the film pays tribute to the generations who have fought for justice, as well as those who continue that work today.
