Black Gold
2023
Cold-cast bronze, brass, iron and aluminium

Exhibited at the Royal Western Academy of Art

Cast from cocoa pods and nutmeg, Black Gold reflects on the colonial histories embedded within everyday crops. The work considers how materials associated with wealth, trade and cultivation can also reveal histories of labour, extraction and remembrance.
